Hi, we’re Michele & Steve.

Having stayed in many holiday homes ourselves, we’ve come to appreciate just how special a great self-contained stay can be — a place where you can settle in, feel comfortable and enjoy being together without feeling as though you’re simply staying in someone else’s house.

That philosophy has shaped the way we’ve created Quarterdeck.

We’re very much a team. Michele is the thinker and creator, with a love of styling, thoughtful details and finding ways to make a stay memorable. Steve is the doer and problem solver — the one who can usually find a practical solution, fix what needs fixing and turn Michele’s ideas into reality.

 

Together, we’ve spent many years creating and hosting holiday homes in Oamaru, and Quarterdeck is particularly special to us. We love its character, its connection to the harbour and the wonderful sense of place you get looking out across one of Oamaru’s oldest neighbourhoods.

Although we may not be there to greet you in person, we want you to feel genuinely welcomed and well looked after. You may even be graced with a cheeky visit from our friendly black neighbourhood cat. He likes to check in on our guests from time to time and is particularly fond of basking in the afternoon sun on the deck.

He doesn’t officially belong to Quarterdeck — but we’re not entirely sure he knows that!

We hope Quarterdeck becomes your home in Oamaru for a little while — and that you leave with some wonderful memories of your stay.
